Job Details

The Division of Management Information Systems (MIS) (http://www.ou.edu/content/price/mis.html) at the Price College of Business, University of Oklahoma, has an opening for a Renewable Term Instructor position starting fall 2017. The appointment will be for nine-months, renewable on a yearly basis based on satisfactory performance. A graduate degree in MIS or related computing fields, and work experience is preferred. Prior teaching experience will be favorably viewed. A suitable candidate should be able to teach courses on programming, introductory information systems, data-base, analytics, and other information systems topics, to business students. The typical teaching load for the instructor position is 24 hours (8 courses) per year, usually four courses per semester, consisting of undergraduate and graduate courses.

The MIS division consists of a vibrant group of faculty at all ranks, actively collaborating to educate undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students on current topics in MIS, and to conduct cutting-edge research. MIS division also houses the Center for MIS Studies, an active industry academia partnership that has been in existence for the past 20 years (see: http://www.ou.edu/content/price/mis/cmiss/membership.html). Through this center, there is involvement of industry partners on curriculum development in MIS programs, scholarship donations to students, engagement in student associations, and in faculty research.

It is expected that new instructor will engage and participate with other faculty in the outreach activities of the division, involving local community and business organizations. With a new graduate education center in Oklahoma City, Price College is growing its online courses, executive education, study abroad activities, and other related programs. There are opportunities for participation and professional growth through these new programs. The University of Oklahoma is classified as a Very High Research University by the Carnegie Foundation. It also ranks first in the nation among public universities in National Merit Scholars enrolled. The campus is beautifully landscaped, is one of the most wired in the nation, and boasts of many top-ranked academic and athletic programs.
